We just finished the second season of The Paper. It was similar to season 1 in the fact that it has Office-like vibes and has just enough moments of hilarity to make you want to continue to watch. The season heavily focuses on Ned & Mare's relationship, which is complicated because Ned is weird and they want to keep it a secret for professional / HR reasons. The paper itself is on a high, however, coming off their success at the Ohio Journalism Awards. Ned becomes increasingly interested in investigative journalism, and one of the major plots of the season is the paper's investigation of an unusual death at a private club called the Glass Club. The club happens to advertise and support the paper, complicating the investigation, and Mare ends up taking a job at the newspaper in Cincinnati, complicating her relationship with Ned.
For as much emphasis that was placed on Ned & Mare and the Glass Club investigation, some of my favorite parts of the season revolved around the other characters at the paper. Ken & Esmeralda's episode on weekend activities, Adelola & Travis tornado episode, and any scene with HR Lisa all stood out as some of the funnier and more memorable parts of the season. I left season 2 with the same feeling that I had at the end of season 1. The show is good but not great. The episodes are short and probably worth a watch, especially if you were a fan of the Office.
