2013 F1 Season Approaching

As BoilerPip pointed out in an email earlier today, the F1 season starts this weekend down in Australia.  Last season was easily the best F1 season I've seen in 10-plus years of watching the sport.  This season is shaping up to be just as spectacular with lots of continuing story lines and some new ones too (Can Lewis succeed at Mercedes?).  It should provide fantastic drama.

Sim City Disaster

As I've mentioned before, I love Sim City.  It is one of my favorite game series and this week they released the first "real" update to the series in nearly 10 years.  I've been anticipating this release and was really excited to play the new version.  Unfortunately, it has been plagued with server problems rendering the new game mostly unplayable (1,400 reviews on Amazon gave the game a one star rating).  What a disaster and terrible release for the game.  With time and luck I am hoping EA resolves these issues.  I'm just glad I haven't purchased the game quite yet.

EDIT: Even more bad press on the front page of Yahoo!.

Law firms seek victims of 'bad robot surgery'

Robotic surgery is somewhat controversial.  I definitely think it has its place, mostly for very specific surgeries and circumstances.  However, much like the JAMA article mentioned in the post, I have seen the da Vinci being used for routine hysterectomies that should take only an hour or a bit more with traditional surgery but instead was taking 4 or more hours with the robot.  In my opinion, that is a huge waste of resources.

Winter is Coming Again

I couldn't figure out how to embed this video, but HBO released this new extended version of the season 3 trailer for Game of Thrones.  This show is pretty much the only reason why I even care to still get HBO.  The show is just awesome and I can't wait for the new season.

2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible

I'm not a huge fan of convertibles, but I really like the new Corvette design.  I'm even starting to get used to the Camaro taillights.

Ubuntu Touch OS impresses

I've been using Ubuntu OS for several years, so this article doesn't surprise me at all.  It'll be interesting to see how this takes off on phones and tablets, and if so, how it will affect the desktop version of the OS.

More Evidence That Smoking Raises Breast Cancer Risk

Even if this study were based on shaky evidence (I'm not saying it was), I would still use this study as yet another reason to quit smoking.
