Where you gonna put a satellite that big?

Anyone who is following Sarah's blog knows that we recently moved into a house.  We had been in our house for just a few days before getting our wrists slapped by the HOA.  Apparently, putting a satellite dish on the front of your house is "frowned upon in this establishment"!

Having an HOA is a double edged sword.  On the one hand, you have to deal with ridiculous rules and nitpicking like in the above instance.  On the other hand, it protects you from the eye sore of Uncle Eddie's rusty RV sitting in the neighbor's driveway for months at a time.

  1. Hopefully you won't have to pay $1,000 a year to have an alarm system, whether you want one or not, as Josh did. And then there was the amount, style and places that bushes could be planted in his front yard... :-/ and on and on...

    1. Actually we kind of did have to pay for an alarm system. Every house in our neighborhood has an alarm and the company that runs them is contracted through the HOA so that part of our HOA fee goes to running the alarm. Even though our neighborhood is safe, I kind of like the idea of having an alarm so this expense doesn't really bother me cause I was likely to pay for it anyway.
